Calling Vietnam Long Distance
Vietnam is 7 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and, depending upon the time of year, 10 or 11 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the United States. Vietnam does not participate in Daylight Savings Time; for this reason, Vietnam will be 10 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time from November to March and 11 hours ahead from April to October.
If you’re calling Vietnam from abroad, be sure to dial 011, the international calling code. Then dial 84, the country calling code of Vietnam. This is followed by the area code, a 1-3 digit number. Follow that code with the local number you are trying to reach. If you’re calling from within Vietnam, simply dial a 0 before the area code and finish with the local number, usually 7 digits long.
Keep in mind that the spelling of place names in Vietnam can vary. For example, Vietnam can also be spelled as one word: Vietnam. As with other place names, both spellings may be used in the country, even by the government.
